Dear NBSTC Members:

When the devastation of Hurricane Katrina was first known, I received a number of calls from concerned NBSTC members anxious to assist victims. Rather than move forward blindly and perhaps have our efforts misdirected, I chose rather to wait until it could be determined exactly how many active NBSTC members were directly affected by the hurricanes. Communications, however, were extremely slow. A little more than four weeks ago, I was able to contact Louisiana CSTC President Robert Guilbeaux and Master Sergeant Chris Gillard of Mississippi. Since our initial contact, both have put forth great effort to keep me informed. The stories of devastation are heartbreaking.
Many NBSTC members in both states have lost everything. No doubt, many of you have assisted hurricane evacuees now residing in your states. You are to be commended for doing so.

However, the time is at hand when we can open our hearts and our wallets to our own. We will forego our Fall Executive Board Meeting. At my direction, the NBSTC Treasurer has established the NBSTC Hurricane Relief Fund. The $500.00 stipend that would have been used to support the Fall E-Board, has been designated as the first official donation the Fund. I am asking that any monies that you would have used in travel or other expenses for the E-Board now be directed to the NBSTC Hurricane Relief Fund. All NBSTC members are asked to contribute to the relief effort by donating $100.00. You may make your donation by credit card via the website using PayPal or you may mail checks to the either the NBSTC Treasurer at P.O. BOX 2261 Joliet IL 60434-2661 or the Secretary at P.O. BOX 70059 Nashville, Tenn 37207-0059.

It is my fervent prayer, that our contributions will make a difference.
